Abstract

March 2020 will certainly remain, in the history of artistic university education, an unexpected turning point, causing dramatic changes that fundamentally upset everyone’s life. This article does not aim to discuss the causes of the Covid-19 pandemic, nor the diversified reaction that the governments of different states have had, but is rather an attempt to identify a possible common area in the evolution of the way in which artistic education, especially theatre education and, more precisely, education focused on Acting/Actor’s Art, will be able to navigate through this challenging period that is unlikely to end very soon.

  • Alexandru Unguru, UNATC ”I.L. Caragiale”, Bucharest, Romania

    Alexandru Unguru is an actor, director, acting coach, emotional coach and playwright, adjunct professor at UNATC „I.L. Caragiale” Bucharest in the Actor’s Art Department, has defended his doctoral thesis „Fantastic Realism in Postmodernist Theatre” in 2011, under the coordination of prof. Adriana Marina Popovici. Since 2014 he writes and directs plays using the spaces of the independent theatres in Bucharest, creating the performances: „Köln“, „The Unnamed Edi Cârlan”, „Declick”, „Ka-chiiing!“, „Akasa“, „Two and a Tulnik“, „De veghe în lanul de ocară“, „ADD Libitum“. He directed: „The Delights of Adultery“ by Valentin Krasnogorov and „Full House“ by Estela Leñero. As an actor he collaborated with the Metropolis Theatre, the Comedy Theatre, the „Ion Dacian“ National Operetta Theatre, the Odeon Theatre („Classic is Fantastic“ project). He has been involved in feature-length film projects such as „Remember Me Beautiful in the Old Town“ (2016 - directed by Iura Luncașu), „Kira Kiralina“ (2014 - directed by Dan Pița), „Necessary Angel“ (2007 - directed by Gică Preda). He supports and elaborates coaching workshops through the actor’s art techniques in the country or abroad (Great Britain, Poland, Italy, Denmark, Spain, Azerbaijan, China, France, Germany). He directed two short films: „The Fisherman“ - 2016, which participated in at the 2017 Cinemaiubit Festival and „God Help“ – 2019. In 2019, his screenplay „The Reunion“ won a grant in Thessaloniki from the See Cinema Network.
