Abstract

Theatre is the space that best illustrates communication, for, through his creation the performer manages to highlight all the qualities of Homo Sapiens. Thus, theatrical techniques in all their complexity can be applied as an exercise in the disinhibition of the human being and can raise the current speech to the rank of art. In the process of communication, speech engages the whole person in action. The inner monologue prepares the exteriorization of the themes and ideas to be expressed and the body, through extralinguistic means of expressiveness – gesture, mimicry, posture, action – must have the capacity to support the verbalized message. Excessive gestures can cause visual fatigue and the audience should be captivated by exposure, not by exaggerated externalities. Likewise, excessive discretion in expression prevents the transmission of the message. The article presents the importance of courses designed to develop communication skills, by including elements of Actor’s Art, Stage Speech and Oratory for students, regardless of their specialization or institutional affiliation.
