Abstract

This article is a technical talk about the capacity of an actor to train his pronunciation in order to retain the ability to adapt to different types of speech. This article defines the term diction as an ability obtained by the actor through a specific program of training and by voluntary involving his attention constantly in this process of forming a new reflex of pronunciation. It also brings into discussion the most common causes for the incorrect way of pronouncing the consonant “s”, and suggests a pattern to be followed in order to obtain the correction of this consonant.

  • Laura-Alexandra Voicu, UNATC ”I.L. Caragiale”, Bucharest, Romania

    1. Laura-Alexandra Voicu is lecturer at the National University of Theatre and Film Bucharest for the Stage Speech discipline and collaborates as an actress at the Tudor Vianu Theatre in Giurgiu, but also at the Vasilache Theatre in Bucharest. She graduated the Actor`s Art specialization in 2010 in the class of Professors Ion Cojar – Adrian Titieni. She then completed her MA in Actor’s Art and Ph.D. at the same university, assisted the Stage Speech courses supported by Professor Olga Delia Mateescu and Associate Professor Viorica Vatamanu. She was a trainer of the course “The role of communication in the management of the class of students” organized by PROEDUS, coordinator of the courses of “Personal Development through Theatre” for visually impaired children, coordinator of theatre courses for teenagers and adults and was part of the organizing team of the International Festival of Theatre Schools. In 2017 she published the book “The contemporary chaos and word on stage” (Universitaria Craiova Publishing House). She also signs a chapter in the book “Group Management in Theatre and Cinematic Pedagogy”, UNATC Press, 2019.
