Abstract

Technical aspects of set design has always raised problems for young professionals in set design. A scenographer is much more than a simple plastic artist, he has to create the whole three-dimensional universe for the entire play. Presenting the artistic sketches markes only the middle of the process not the end of the work, this is why technical knowledge is essential for any set designer. The complex technical terms must be more accessible for theatre artists. This article researches the scenographer`s work from two perspectives, the plastic artist, the way he uses the tehniques of a painter and adapts them to his needs, and the other from the point of view of a construction engineer, the knowledge he has to have about materials and construction requirements in his work.
