Abstract

Alexandru Iureş represents, as manager, one of the most important independent theatre spaces in Bucharest – The Act Theatre. He is a graduate of the Directing program of the National Film & Television School in London, but also of the MA in film production, at UNATC „I. L. Caragiale” Bucharest. As the leader of a cultural association with a long history in promoting and supporting young artists and contemporary drama, he implemented projects that made a real cultural and social contribution. In a time of uncertainty, when the independent sector faces the impossibility to continue its activity, we met in the always welcoming space of the Act Theatre to talk about difficulties, obstacles, achievements and rewards that appear simultaneously with the activity in the independent environment, but also about a possible action plan that would be necessary to prevent the creation of a huge cultural gap.
