”Vous N’avez Pas Le Droit...”

Abstract

The article analyzes different types of reports on censorship and the phenomenon of “cancel culture”, from the perspective of multiple reflections on the limits of freedom of expression and the forms of cancellation of some spaces of expression. Thus, various ways of sanctioning literary works, authors and artistic approaches are explored, in universities, high schools, art spaces. From the phenomenon of Soviet theatrical censorship in the 1960s, to performances such as the one created by the Moscow teatr.doc – Neighbors – about the demonstrations against Lukashenko’s election, the forms of oppression have permanently changed their modes of intervention. The questions raised by the article are provocative and, at the same time, open up various reflective areas: to what extent does the cultural approach of certain themes and representations give rise to controversy? What does it actually mean to play the “other”: to confiscate his story and representation or to carry it on?
